Part 1: Recover from iOSStep 1. Connect iOS devices to computers
Connect the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to the computer using the USB cable attached to the iOS device. Then start Dr. fone on your computer and select Recover.
Once the program detects your device, it will display the following window.
Tip: Before running Dr. fone, you should download the latest version of iTunes. To avoid automatic synchronization, do not start iTunes while running Dr. fone. I recommend that you disable automatic synchronization in iTunes beforehand: Start iTunes > Preferences > Devices, and check “Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically”.
Step 2. Scan your device to find missing data
Just click the Start Scan button and let the program scan your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to scan deleted or missing data. The scanning g process may last several minutes, depending on the amount of data on your device. During the scanning process, if you find that the data you are looking for exists, you can click the "pause" button to stop the process.
Step 3. Preview and restore scanned data
Scanning takes some time. When finished, you can see the scan results generated by the program. The missing and existing data on the device are displayed by category. To filter out deleted data on iOS devices, you can slide the "Only display the deleted items" option to "ON". By clicking on the file type on the left, you can preview the data you find. You can see a search box at the top right of the window. You can search for specific files by typing keywords in the search box. Then click the Recovery button to save the data to the computer or device.
Tip: About restoring data
When you find the data you need, just select them in front of the check box. Then, click the Recovery button in the lower right corner of the window. By default, the recovered data will be saved to your computer. For SMS, iMessage, Contacts or Remarks, when you click "Recover", the pop-up window will require you to "Recover to Computer" or "Recover to Device". To put these messages back on the iOS device, click "Recover to Device".
Part 2: Recover from iCloud
Step 1. Select recovery mode
After running Dr. fone, select Recover and click it.
Then select "Recover iOS Data".
Later, you can see options for performing data recovery. Select "Recover from iCloud Backup Files". Then you will see the window below. Enter your iCloud account and password for login. Dr. fone takes your privacy seriously. We will never record any of your Apple account information or content at any time during your session.
Step 2. Download iCloud backup file
After login to iCloud, the program can find all iCloud backup files in your account. Select the one to restore the data, and then click the Download button.
Then in the pop-up window, you can choose the type of file you want to download. This will reduce the download time of iCloud backup files. After that, you can scan iCloud content immediately. Click the Next button to start downloading. It will take some time. Wait a minute.
Step 3. Preview and restore data from iCloud backup files
The scan will be completed in a few minutes. After stopping, you can preview almost all the data in the iCloud backup file, such as contacts, messages, photos, etc. Check and check the items you want one by one. Then click the "Recover to Computer" or "Recover to your device" buttons, and you can save them to your computer or device with one click.
Now, if you use a USB cable to connect an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to a computer during recovery, you can directly restore contacts, messages and notes to an iOS device.
Tip: Preview and restore data from downloaded iCloud backup files directly
If you have downloaded the iCloud backup file before, you do not need to log in again and download the iCloud backup file. Click "To preview and scan previously downloaded iCloud backup file" under the account login entry.
Then, you can see all the downloaded iCloud backup files shown in the list. You can choose any of them to extract content. All of these downloaded backup files are located on your own computer. If you no longer need them, you can click the trash can icon next to the scan button to delete them completely.
Part 3: Recover from iTunes
Step 1. Select recovery mode
Start Dr. fone and click "Recover".
Then select "Recover iOS Data".
You can see three options here. Select "Recover from iTunes Backup File". After that, the iTunes backup and recovery tool will detect all iTunes backup files on this computer and display them in the window. You can confirm which one is the one you need according to the creation date.
Step 2. Scan data from iTunes backup file
Select the iTunes backup file containing the data to be restored, and then click Start Scan. It takes several minutes to extract all the data from the iTunes backup file. Be patient.
Step 3. Preview and restore data from iTunes Back up
In a few seconds, all the data in the backup file will be extracted and displayed by category. You can preview them one by one before restoring. Then, you can selectively mark and restore what you want by pressing the "Recover" button at the bottom. Now, if you connect an iOS device to a computer through a USB cable during recovery, you can directly restore contacts, notes and messages to the iOS device.
Tip: You can see the search box in the results window. From there, you can enter the name of the file you want to search for.
Tip: What if your iTunes backup file is located elsewhere?
When your iTunes backup file comes from somewhere, such as moving from another computer with a USB drive, how do you preview and get content from it? There is a way. When you are in the first step, click "Select" under the iTunes backup file list, and you can flexibly select the iTunes backup file wherever you place it.
Then in the pop-up window, preview and locate the iTunes backup file. Then click Start Scan, and you can proceed with Step 2 above. This is a very useful function.
